During the month of October, Broadway Cab will donate $1 from each fare generated by the pink taxicabs to the Oregon and SW Washington Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure®. There is no additional cost to passengers, and drivers are not allowed to accept donations. "Every time a passenger rides in one of our pink taxicabs between October 1st and October 31st, we will automatically donate $1 to the Oregon & SW Washington Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure" said Broadway Cab president Raye Miles. "Every one of us has a story about someone we know with breast cancer. I hope this program raises money and awareness. When people see these vehicles, I hope they are motivated to do something on their own, whether that be contributing to Komen, helping out a friend with breast cancer, or even just making sure they or a loved one get themselves screened." "We are enthusiastic about this program and are excited by the high visibility of the pink taxicabs. This is a wonderful example of a local company finding a unique way to give back to a local nonprofit," said Christine M. McDonald, executive director of the Oregon & SW Washington Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. "The funds raised by our Affiliate stay in Oregon and SW Washington to pay for mammograms for the uninsured, provide survivor support resources and educate the community about breast cancer and breast health."
